The Hotel

Hotel Magerl ***Superior is located at the well-known and so-called sunny slope at the east bank of lake Traunsee.

We offer 60 comfortably furnished rooms, which are divided into two houses. The 42 rooms in the main house and the 18 rooms in the guest house are equipped with a bathroom/shower, toilet, telephone, cable TV, Wi-Fi and mostly a balcony with lake view.

If the weather does not permit an outdoor activity, you can use our indoor swimming pool and sauna or our fitness room with diverse workout equipment. Enjoy the evening having a drink on our comfortable sun terrace with view on lake Traunsee and the mountains.

If you book half- or full board, our kitchen team will spoil you with traditional home cooking. Additionally, we offer a varied salad buffet. Of course, we also have a sympathetic ear for individual wishes.

Our four individually equipped seminar rooms offer space for up to 35 people and provide the perfect setting for professional seminars and conventions.

In the Salzkammergut in former times it was not common practice to name an inn after the landlord but to name houses after their relevance and their purpose for the common good. “MOAR UNTERM WALD” – this name contains two distinctive elements: “MOAR” (hist. steward) bears witness to the fact that there was a feudal estate, run by a steward, which cared for Schloss Mühlwang. “UNTERM WALD” (“below the forest”) points out the incomparable location of the former farmyard: at the foot of Grünberg, the well-known and so called sun slope. “MOAR UNTERM WALD”, which has been owned by the family for 300 years now, is the origin of “HOTEL MAGERL ***Superior” as well as “GÄSTEHAUS MAGERL”. Both houses carry on the tradition. They provide sustenance for their guests and stand for relaxation and recreation.
